Europoort
Europoort Relocation Services Netherlands
Europoort is a place people work, not a place people live, and that single fact breaks every standard relocation playbook. The refineries, tank terminals and chemical plants here draw specialists from across the world, who then discover that the nearest sensible home might be in Spijkenisse, Brielle, Rozenburg or deep into Rotterdam, each with a very different commute and a very different life attached.
We plan your relocation around that reality. Housing is chosen against your actual gate and shift start, not a postcode radius. Registrations, insurance and schooling follow in one coordinated sequence, and when an appointment falls awkwardly between your shifts, we go with you and get it done in one visit.
Who this is for
- Engineers and technicians starting at Europoort plants and terminals
- Contractors on refinery projects and turnarounds
- Employers in the port area relocating international specialists
- Families following a partner into port-industry work
What working at Europoort means for your move
The port sets the constraints. Housing, registration and family life all have to bend around the gate and the roster.
- Commutes to Europoort run forty-five to seventy minutes from central Rotterdam, and twenty to thirty from Hoogvliet, Spijkenisse or Brielle.
- Shift and roster patterns make public transport impractical for most gates, so parking and a car usually shape the housing decision.
- Site access requires identity documents and, for many contractors, a valid safety certification such as VCA.
- Contractors and posted workers from other EU states fall under different registration, insurance and payroll rules than direct hires.
- Registration at your address remains the gateway to BSN, payroll and insurance, whatever your employer has arranged.
- We cover the port region specifically. This is our own area, not a national service applied locally.
What is included
Commute-first housing search
We shortlist homes in the towns that genuinely work for Europoort, tested against the A15 at your real start times, and handle viewings and contracts.
Registrations around your roster
BSN and municipal registration planned into your shift schedule, prepared so one appointment settles everything.
Insurance and payroll basics
Dutch health insurance, liability cover and the practical payroll paperwork sorted before your first invoice or payslip.
Family follow-on support
When a partner and children follow, we extend the plan with schools, childcare and neighborhood orientation.
How it works
- 01
Work-site intake
We start from your site, roster and contract length, because everything else depends on them.
- 02
Home and paperwork in parallel
The housing search runs while your registration file is prepared, so neither waits on the other.
- 03
Working within weeks
You start your job registered, insured and housed, with support that continues after day one.
What Europoort relocation costs
Tailor-made proposal
Port assignments differ in length, rotation and how many people arrive at once. You receive a proposal built around the contract and the crew.
- Housing within a workable distance of the terminal or plant
- Immigration files for the worker and, where relevant, the family
- Every registration handled around shift patterns
- A contact who answers outside office hours, because the port does not keep them
Practical points for port professionals
Where should I actually live?
It depends on your gate and your shift, and the honest answer is often not Rotterdam. Hoogvliet, Spijkenisse, Brielle and Rozenburg put you within half an hour of most terminals and cost materially less. If your partner works in the city the calculation changes, and we model both before you commit to an address.
I am posted here by a foreign employer. What is different?
Almost everything administrative. Your social security may remain in your home country under an A1 certificate, your employer has a notification duty in the Netherlands, and your health insurance obligation depends on that structure rather than on your address. Getting this wrong produces double premiums or no cover, so we work it through specifically.
Can my family follow later?
Yes, and for rotational and shift work it is often the right call. We plan the first phase around you and the second around them, so schools and housing are chosen with the family present rather than guessed at in advance.
How fast can this be done?
With an offer in hand and documents ready, a functional landing takes three to five weeks: temporary base, registration, BSN, insurance, banking and the permanent housing search running underneath. Legalised documents from abroad are the only thing that reliably slows it down.
Frequently asked questions
Can appointments work around a rotating shift schedule?
Yes, that is our normal mode here. We plan municipal and other appointments into your off-days or between shifts, prepare everything in advance, and accompany you so a single visit is enough.
Can my employer be billed directly?
Certainly. We regularly contract directly with port-area employers and agencies, invoice them for the relocation, and report progress to HR while the employee deals only with us.
My contract is for six months. Is relocation support still worth it?
Short contracts benefit most, because you have no time to lose on mistakes. We arrange registerable temporary housing, the correct short-stay registration route and insurance that matches your actual dates.
